Earlier this week, a projectionist was fired.
Who cares, right? Well, this is a little different.
You see, not too long ago, Fox held a screening of Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer for exhibitors. It was at one of the Malco Theater chain, one that is small, but still known. Anyway, they held the screening, and a guy named Jesse Morrison was the projectionist.
After the film, Jesse went home and wrote a scathing review of the film for Ain't It Cool News under the name Memflix. Fox got a hold of the review, and complained to Malco's home office. And thus, a few days later, Jesse was canned.
To me, this says that Fox is worried about the film. What other reason is there for a huge company to freak out over a projectionist who wrote a little review for an internet web site? Apparently, Malco Theaters KNEW Jesse had been writing reviews for awhile for AICN, but never said anything about it. Couldn't care less. But now that their theater is threatened, they have to take action. It hardly seems fair.
